Every new Volkswagen on the road today comes with a wide variety of advanced safety features designed to protect your rides around Overland Park and beyond. In addition to a robust exterior design that includes a safety cage to absorb crash energy, Volkswagen vehicles are equipped with cameras, sensors, and radar to monitor your ride and mitigate damage and injury in case of a collision.
One feature that’s essential to keeping you safe on the road is VW Front Assist, but, what is VW front assist? Volkswagen Front Assist uses advanced technology to keep an eye on road conditions and sends out a warning alert if your vehicle detects something immediately in front of it. The service team at Bud Brown Volkswagen has everything you need to know about the VW Front Assist warning light in the guide below, as well as some of the other safety features you’ll find in your new Volkswagen!
The VW Front Assist system works in a number of different ways, depending on how immediate the danger of a forward collision is. As you’re driving around Lenexa, Front Assist is monitoring the conditions of the road in front of you using radar technology. If road conditions suddenly change—say, from someone changing lanes unexpectedly or a large piece of debris blowing into the road—the VW Front Assist symbol will illuminate on the dashboard alongside a warning sound. The VW Front Assist warning light resembles a red car with sensor waves coming out of the top and sides.
If you see the VW Front Assist symbol light up and chime on your dashboard, you should apply the brakes right away. If you aren’t able to or don’t have time, the VW Front Assist system will tap the brakes for you as a reminder, followed by fully applying the brakes as soon as possible to slow your vehicle down as a collision becomes imminent. VW Front Assist works with the Autonomous Emergency Braking system to bring your vehicle to a complete stop if needed. VW Front Assist will also notify you if the distance between your Volkswagen and the vehicle in front of you is too short, increasing the likelihood of a collision if the vehicle brakes suddenly.
VW Front Assist is just one of the advanced safety features you’ll find on your Volkswagen. Here are some of the other standard and available features that come with most new VW models:
