Performance

All Atlas models are powered by the new “Evo4” 2.0-liter inline-4 TSI® engine. Rated at 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, this represents an increase of 34 horsepower and 15 lb-ft over the 2023 four-cylinder engine. This puts it on par with the previous VR6 engine in horsepower with the added attraction of providing more torque across the rev range (1600-4500 rpm). New fuel injectors, increased turbo pressure, and a redesigned balance shaft account are just some of this engine’s new components. The 2025 Atlas has an EPA-estimated MPG of 20/27/23 for FWD models. All SE models with 4Motion are rated at 19/26/22. All SEL trims are rated at 19/25/21 with an 18/24/20 rating for Atlas Peak Edition models.

Exterior

The 2025 Atlas keeps the all-new design of the 2024 model that features a larger grille with a single piece separate from flanking 900-lumen LED headlights that includes the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) on all models, plus the addition of Light Assist on 2025 models, which is an auto-high beam assist feature. AFS features swivel-mounted lamps to improve road illumination when cornering or driving around curves. Overhead roof rails are standard on all models, with a black finish on all SE models and the Peak Edition and a silver finish on SEL models.

New colors arrive for the 2025 model, with Mountain Lake Blue, Avocado Green, and Pure Grey optional throughout the range. Previously they were only available on the Peak Edition trim level.

The 2025 Atlas features attractive wheel designs, starting with 18-inch alloy wheels on the SE, expanding to 20-inch for the SE with Technology and SEL, and 21-inch two-tone alloys for the SEL Prime R-Line. Peak Edition models are fitted with all-terrain tires and are adorned with black trim and unique front-end trim. Atlas models feature 6.3 inches of ground clearance and 20.8 and 21.3/21.1-degree departure angles. Peak Edition and all SEL trims feature a 4.5×3 foot panoramic sunroof with a two-part glass opening and power sunshade.

Interior

The elegant dash design in the Atlas maintains clean and functional usability, with dashboard trim that flows seamlessly into the door panels for an upscale look. Standard across the model line are heated and ventilated front seats and Climatronic® three-zone automatic climate control. An available ambient interior lighting package gives owners up to 30 color choices.

The Atlas makes maximum use of its three-row seating layout to offer space for seven adults or six if equipped with the 2nd-row captain’s chairs. The cavernous 154 cu-ft of total passenger volume includes legroom of 41.7/37.6/33.7 inches for the first, second, and third rows. The standard second-row bench seat is split 60/40 for cargo/passenger flexibility, can slide fore and aft 7.7 inches to adjust for 3rd-row passengers, and offers 14 degrees of backrest recline. Access to the 3rd row is easy due to an innovative folding mechanism for the second that both slides and tilts the 2nd-row forward, even with child seats in place.  Standard on all models are heated and ventilated front seats, and the driver’s seat has a 10-way power adjustment.

Technology

Sitting high upon the redesigned dash is a 12-inch information touchscreen that is standard on all models. All models feature six USB-C ports, with all but the review mirror port providing 45-watt fast charging. Standard on all models is the Digital Cockpit system with a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster that can be configured with up to four views, including a full navigation display on models so equipped.

SE with Technology models and above offer SiriusXM with 360L, which combines satellite and streaming content delivery into a single, cohesive in-vehicle entertainment experience for a three-month trial and subsequently available by subscription. The system monitors choices to provide “For You” recommendations to help you discover more of what you love. It also includes an enhanced sports play-by-play offering that makes finding your favorite team easier during game time. On the SEL Premium R-Line, this can all be listened to through the 400-watt, 12-channel Harman-Kardon® Premium Audio System, which was designed to create the atmosphere of a live performance inside the cabin.

New for 2025 is a 15-watt wireless charger that is standard on all Atlas trim levels.

Safety and Driver Assistance

IQ.DRIVE is standard on all trims for model year 2025. The system utilizes front and rear radar, a front camera, and several ultrasound sensors to enable features such as:

• Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance)
• Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring)
• Active Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor)
• Rear Traffic Alert
• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Stop and Go
• Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System)
• Emergency Assist (semi-automated vehicle assistance in a medical emergency)

Volkswagen’s Intelligent Crash Response System is also standard. In the event of a collision, it shuts off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors, and switches on the hazard lights.
