Performance
Under the hood, the 2025 Jetta GLI is powered by a potent 2.0-liter Turbocharged 4-Cylinder engine, delivering an impressive 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This powerful engine is combined with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DSG® automatic transmission. The 2025 Jetta GLI features a sport-tuned suspension that offers precise handling. In all, expect responsive acceleration and a thrilling driving experience behind the wheel of a 2025 Jetta GLI.
With performance comes efficiency. With the manual transmission, the 2025 Jetta GLI can achieve an EPA-estimated rating of 26 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. Models equipped with the optional seven-speed DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission have an EPA-estimated rating of 25 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. All ratings are based on regular unleaded fuel.
The 2025 Jetta GLI features a multi-link rear suspension, a rear anti-roll bar, and sport-tuned gas-filled shock absorbers. With stiffer springs and a 0.6-inch lower stance than the base Jetta model, the GLI sport suspension delivers a performance-focused ride without sacrificing comfort. You can also adjust the suspension through the DCC adaptive damping system to the level of comfort or firmness.
You will also find the XDS® Cross Differential System in 2025 Jetta GLI models. The XDS system acts as an electronic substitute for a traditional mechanical limited-slip differential that actively monitors data from each wheel sensor. If the suspension becomes unloaded, the XDS system automatically applies braking to the driven inside wheel as needed to help reduce understeer. This not only helps stability but can also improve handling and cornering performance.
The 2025 Jetta GLI stops with a more robust braking system. The system includes 13.4-inch diameter vented discs up front and 11.8-inch vented discs in the rear.
Keeping the 2025 Jetta GLI through the corners is a progressive variable-ratio electric power steering system. This system helps determine the rate of steering at different speeds, and maneuvers ideally require different steering rates. In this case, the teeth on the steering rack are spaced more tightly toward the center than on a standard rack. The lower steering ratio in the center means that the car can respond quickly when entering a turn, while the higher ratio at the ends of the rack can help reduce the amount of effort needed near the full steering lock, such as when parking. The steering wheel goes from lock to lock in just 2.1 turns.
To further enhance your driving experience, you can select between “Comfort,” “Eco,” “Sport,” and “Custom” using the Driving Mode Selection system. Each one matches the kind of drive you look for to match your mood.
