What’s Coming Up for 2026 at Volkswagen?​

The 2025 model year was a big one for Volkswagen. The debut of the new ID.Buzz and Tiguan was joined by the updated Jetta, Taos, Golf GTI and Golf R. In all, you enjoyed a round of fresh vehicles that joined our lineup of great German-engineered automobiles.  

What’s ahead for the next model year? For 2026, Volkswagen has the following changes to look forward to. First off, the Tiguan adds a more powerful turbocharged engine to its 2026 lineup. The uprated 268-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine powers the 2026 SEL R-Line Turbo. The new trim level sits on top of the 2026 Tiguan lineup that includes S, SE, and SE R-Line Black trim levels. New for 2026 are updated driver assistance features, including Travel Assist and Assisted Lane Change.  

Across the lineup, you will find enhancements to current features, along with some new ones. HomeLink rearview mirrors will appear for the first time on the 2026 Atlas SE with the Technology Package, 2026 Atlas Cross Sport SE with the Technology Package, and 2026 ID.4 AWD Pro S Plus. Additionally, the upgraded Premium Volkswagen Audio System has eight speakers of beautiful sound, available on the 2026 Taos SEL, 2026 Jetta SEL, and GLI Autobahn.  

Plus, the 2026 Jetta SE adds a standard sunroof to the already well-equipped model. The sunroof has been a feature loved by Volkswagen owners for decades, dating back to the original Type 1 Beetle. The tradition continues in one of our most popular models.  

Volkswagen is committed to offering the safest vehicles on the road today. That is why it is adding rear-seat pretensioners on all 2026 Jetta and Taos models. Rear-seat passengers will be protected when the seat belts are deployed, keeping occupants in place upon impact.  

For 2026, the Jetta GLI Autobahn will switch to physical buttons for steering wheel controls. Also, 2026 marks the return of Graphite Gray Metallic as a color available on the Golf R.  

Updates to the 2026 ID.Buzz will be announced later in the new model year. Volkswagen will make further updates to the 2026 ID.4 later in the next calendar year.
