Tiguan Gets 5-Star Overall Rating from NHTSA
The Tiguan is the best-selling model in the VW lineup, which is an additional reason why Bud Brown Volkswagen is pleased to announce that the 2025 Tiguan earned a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), its highest rating.

The NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) has been conducting crash tests on vehicles and providing consumers with data since 1978. The NCAP impact tests include front impact, side impact, and rollover tests. By publishing the results, manufacturers strive to improve their ratings, and once a test seems too easy to pass, the NHTSA raises the requirements for achieving the coveted Overall 5-star rating.
The recently redesigned Tiguan joins the 2025 Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, ID.4, Jetta, and Jetta GLI as Volkswagen vehicles with a 5-Star overall safety rating.

All Tiguan models come standard with Volkswagen’s sophisticated IQ.DRIVE® Level 2 driver assistance features, including:
- Travel Assist (Level 2 semi-automated driving assistance)
- Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian & Cyclist Monitoring)
- Active Blind Spot Monitor
- Rear Traffic Alert
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Stop and Go
- Lane Assist and Emergency Assist.
- Light Assist
- Park Distance Control
- Exit Warning
Additionally, with the recent redesign, the Tiguan now comes standard with four extra airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag, a center airbag to help prevent front occupants from colliding against each other, and dual side airbags for the rear passengers, for a total of ten airbags in all.

All this comes in a vehicle that Car and Driver described as “More fun to drive than most of its rivals,” which they credit to the model’s strong 201-hp turbocharged engine, especially the available 268-hp engine in the SE R-Line. They also praised the recent redesign for offering both more power and a roughly 170-pound weight reduction, thanks in part to aluminum suspension components and an increased use of lighter, high-strength steel elsewhere.
The 2026 Tiguan has a price range that starts at $32,280 for the S model. The price range tops out at $45,410 for the SEL R-Line turbo.
