The 2025 Volkswagen Atlas Takes the Child Seat Test

Transporting your children safely is a top priority for parents. The types of seats used are infant seats, convertible rear-facing seats, convertible front-facing seats, and booster seats.  

The editors also test the accessibility of latches, which are key to ensuring the fit and security of child seats. If a latch is not available, they look at other safe ways to secure a child’s seat, such as seat belts. Cars.com found that was the case in the third row of the 2025 Atlas.  

When it comes to ensuring safe access to the rearmost seats through wide rear doors and easy-to-operate second-row seats, the 2025 Atlas excels. As Cars.com noted, “The captain’s chair moved out of the way easily to create a good-sized passage to the third row, and the step-in height should be manageable for small kids.” 

The 2025 Atlas is also a flexible vehicle, ensuring comfort for everyone. The second-row seats can be adjusted for rake and recline. They are easy to slide away for third-row access. The head restraints can be removed easily to ensure further anchoring of seats.
