​​2026 Volkswagen Tiguan SEL: R-Line Turbo Adds Extra Performance To Our Popular SUV ​

The 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan will be arriving shortly. With new styling and added technology, our popular SUV will deliver more to our customers than ever before. However, Volkswagen understands that you want even more out of your Tiguan—something with more power. Introduced at the New York International Auto Show, the 2026 Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo is the answer you want for more.  

It all starts with more power underneath the hood. The 2026 Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo is powered by an uprated turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder TSI engine. This specific engine delivers 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This extra power comes courtesy of a larger turbocharger, enabling higher boost pressure with a lower 10.5:1 compression ratio.  

The 2026 Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo is available only with an eight-speed automatic transmission with 4Motion all-wheel drive. Overall, the entire Tiguan lineup is lighter than the outgoing model, partly due to an improved MQB evo platform. You should expect improved fuel economy coming from both the standard and upgraded Turbo models. We should expect actual estimated fuel economy numbers from the Environmental Protection Agency soon.  

All of the updates found across the 2025 Tiguan lineup are visibly seen with a new front clip, a shorter rear overhang, and a bolder look overall. The 2026 Tiguan Turbo adds an LED light bar, an illuminated logo, and slimmer LED headlamps up front. The rear end adds an LED light bar and an illuminated logo. The fenders are more rounded, and the liftgate sports a new spoiler for better airflow.  

The 2026 Tiguan Turbo also comes with standard black roofs that contrast with our choice of both standard and premium colors. These include new colors like Avocado Green Peal, Sandstone Uni, and Monterey Blue. The 2026 Tiguan Turbo wear 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels.  

Inside, the cabin features premium materials, including quilted Varenna leather seat upholstery and genuine American walnut wood trim. The center console is double-wrapped and stitched, giving the Tiguan an elevated level of luxury.  

That level of luxury also includes the new 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro along with a new 15.0-inch diagonal touchscreen driven by the next-generation MIB4 infotainment system. On the center console, you will also find the new Driving Experience Dial that gives you easier access to the volume control of your 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, as well as Drive Mode Select and the Atmospheres feature. The latter provides you with synchronized ambient lighting and audio settings.  

The 2026 Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo offers many more features. These upgraded features include wireless charging, three-zone Climatronic Touch automatic climate system, head-up display, 30-color ambient lighting, 12-way power front seats with a 10-point full-back massage, seat ventilation, heated outboard rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.  

The IQ DRIVE driver assistance technology offers more features on the 2026 Tiguan Turbo to ensure optimal protection and security for up to five passengers and their goods. All of the features within this suite of technologies, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Park Distance Control, Lane Assist, and more, are standard on the 2026 Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo.
