2024 ID.4 Changes
It seems hard to believe that Bud Brown Volkswagen has been selling the ID.4 for over three years now. Though it doesn’t look much different from the car that was voted 2021 World Car of the Year shortly after its debut, the 2024 ID.4 arrives with some significant changes.
The model lineup consists of the Prol, Pro S, and Pro S Plus. You have the option of a 62 kWh or 82 kWh battery and the choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Most of the changes are on models with the 82 kWh battery.
More Powerful Motors
The most significant difference for those who appreciate performance is that models with the 82 kWh battery now have a more powerful drive unit system, bringing it up to 282 horsepower on rear-wheel drive models and 335 horsepower on models with all-wheel drive. The range has also increased for the large battery models, with up to 291 rear-drive miles with an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 108 MPGe in the city and 104 on the highway. For all-wheel drive models with the large battery, the range is 263 miles and has a rating of 108 MPGe in the city and 96 MPGe on the highway with a combined rating of 102 MPGe.
Larger Battery Has Faster Charging
When at home with a level 2 charger, the models with the 62 kWh battery can charge to full in about six and a half hours, while those with the 82 kWh battery will fully charge in about eight hours. When on the road, models with the standard battery continue to have a 140-kW DC charging rate, but models with the larger battery have their Level 3 charging rate increased to 175 kW. Now, all ID.4 models will charge from 10-80% state of charge in about 30 minutes.
Interior Updates
Another change to the 82 kWh battery-equipped models is that they are now equipped with an enhanced 12.9-inch center display with a more intuitive climate control interface and backlit physical slider controls. Changes continue, with the shifter moving to a stalk to the right of the steering wheel, a return to automatic shift controls from decades ago. This also gives the dashboard an overall cleaner appearance. There are additional minor changes, including a revision to the steering wheel controls layout and tweaks to the shape of the center console and armrest.
Changes to the exterior are minor, with ID.4 AWD Pro models now coming standard with 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, while S Plus vehicles upgrade to 21-inch machined alloy wheels.
It is also certainly worth pointing out that thanks to its assembly in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and high U.S. content, all 2024 ID.4 models qualify for the total $7,500 Federal Tax Credit to qualified customers. The credit can now be redeemed at purchase and even contribute to a down payment.
All this points to good reasons to take a look at the 2024 ID.4s now arriving in inventory at Bud Brown Volkswagen in Olathe, KS, and home of the Bud Brown Advantage Lifetime Limited Warranty.
