​Volkswagen Announces Changes for 2027

The Pristine New Look Of The Fabulous 2027 Volkswagen Atlas

What’s new at Volkswagen? Glad you asked, especially since the automaker recently announced what it has in store for its entire 2027 line up, including a completely redesigned Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport, the return of the ID.Buzz, and some tech updates throughout the product portfolio. Bud Brown Volkswagen gives you the details. 

All Models

For convenience, premium connected services will be bundled together in a single In-Vehicle Premium subscription. Features vary by model but generally include: 

  • Premium Navigation, including Real-Time Traffic and online POI searching 
  • Premium Speech commands, which incorporates ChatGPT 
  • Premium Radio that allows access to more than 30,000 radio stations and more than 1 million podcasts 
  • Wi-Fi hotspot capability – with new App Store enabler (ID. Buzz) 
  • New: myQ Connected Garage, which adds remote access to your garage via in-vehicle touchscreen, voice commands, geofencing, and the myVW app 
  • New: Travel Assist with assisted lane changing and available road data (ID. Buzz) 
  • New: AirConsole®, which allows you to use the infotainment center as a gaming platform in conjunction with passengers’ smartphones 
  • New: What3Words® – A navigation system that divides the country into 3-meter squares and assigns each three random words. You no longer have to worry about vague addresses in rural areas, and you can direct someone with the same feature or app to your exact position in a large field or parking lot.

Atlas & Atlas Cross Sport 

Both the 7-seater Atlas and 5-seater Atlas Cross Sport midsize SUVs have been thoroughly redesigned for MY27 with a bolder exterior, new, innovative technology, and new premium features. The new body panels and redesigned front and rear lighting give the models a more upscale appearance, while the interior has been entirely reimagined, featuring a contemporary design and luxurious materials. 

Additional standard features across the model line include a power liftgate, rear sunshades, an auto-dimming driver-side mirror, dual hatch lights, and front and rear Park Distance Control. A new front center airbag brings the total number of airbags to seven and helps prevent the front passenger from colliding with the driver in a lateral collision. There are also refinements to the standard IQ.DRIVE® driver assistance technology. 

The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder powertrain has been upgraded and will now, produce 282 horsepower. It is also expected to offer better fuel efficiency, although official EPA figures are not yet available. More details, including trims and pricing, will be announced closer to the fall launch. Information about the 2027 Atlas Cross Sport will be disclosed closer to its unveiling later this year.

ID.Buzz 

The ID.Buzz returns to the 2027 Volkswagen model lineup with a new trim-level lineup. 2027 trims include: 

  • Pro S RWD 
  • Pro S 4Motion (new) 
  • Tourer 4Motion (new) 
  • Pro S Plus 4Motion.  

Built off the Pro S 4Motion model, the Tourer trim includes features to enable the vehicle to be used for overnight stays These include: 

  • Fold-out mattress with platform 
  • Window blinds 
  • Front window ventilation panels 
  • Exterior table and chairs 
  • A retractable tow hitch 
  • Captain’s Chairs 
  • Electrochromic smart roof 
  • Area View 
  • 20-inch dark graphite wheels with black discs. 

Every 2027 ID.Buzz model is equipped with the latest ID.S 6 software, a smart Android-based system that offers a beautifully refreshed navigation home screen for quicker inputs and a conveniently accessible vehicle settings page for all interior features. Every purchase of a new 2027 ID.Buzz includes a one-year free trial of In-Vehicle Premium, giving you access to a new App Store where you can find your favorite third-party apps like YouTube® and Spotify®. The lineup is also upgraded with new color and wheel options, along with easy-to-reach hard buttons on the steering wheel—all designed to make your drive more pleasant. 

 The 2027 ID.Buzz will also offer one pedal driving functionality and a North American Charging System (NACS) adapter, allowing charging on the Tesla Supercharger network. 

The color selection has been simplified with all models featuring a two-tone exterior. A new Candy White over Cherry Red scheme with white wheels evokes an iconic Type 2 Microbus color combination. The Pro S Plus 4Motion now offers an optional 21-in wheel package.

Golf GTI & Golf R 

For 2027, Golf GTI models continue to be available in S, SE, and Autobahn trims. Light Assist (automatic high beam adjustment) and KESSY® keyless access are now standard on all models.  

The 2027 Golf R returns in two trims, thanks to the addition of the new Black Edition, which adds blacked-out emblems, accents, brake calipers, wheels, exhaust tips, mirror caps, and darkened headlamp housings. All Golf R models can be equipped with the Euro Style Package, removing the sunroof and adding fabric ArtVelours sport seats and an Akrapovic™ titanium exhaust, reducing weight by nearly 80 pounds. 

Jetta & Jetta GLI 

Jetta S and Sport trims gain a new Composition Media infotainment system, which adds satellite radio, voice control, two additional speakers for a total of six, as well as available Premium Speech with AI and Premium Radio. KESSY keyless access, push-button start, and an enhanced rear seatbelt reminder are standard across the Jetta line.

Taos 

The 2027 Taos gains a new Sport trim, making the trim lineup as follows: 

  • S 
  • Sport 
  • SE 
  • SE Black Package 
  • SEL 

The Sport trim includes black 18-inch wheels, roof rails, a spoiler, and a rear 4Motion badge, along with gloss black exterior mirror caps and gunmetal accents on the front bumper trim, rear skid plate, and exhaust tips. Inside, it features yellow contrast stitching, black cloth seats with embossing, and privacy glass. 

Now standard on all trims is the Composition Media infotainment system, which includes satellite radio, voice control, and available Premium Speech with AI and Premium Radio. KESSY keyless access and an enhanced rear seatbelt reminder area are standard on all models, and the S gains two audio speakers for a total of six. 

Tiguan 

The 2027 Tiguan model lineup is comprised of the following trim levels: 

  • S 
  • SE 
  • SE R-Line Black 
  • SEL R-Line Turbo

Auto Hold function is now standard on all models. Image quality has been enhanced for the rear-view camera as well as the Area View on the SEL R-Line® Turbo. A heated steering wheel is now standard on the SE R-Line Black.

ID.4 models will carry into the 2027 model year with no significant changes.
