The New Volkswagen Tiguan
What is missing in a compact SUV?
A lot, it seems. Some do not offer much cargo space, or the ability to carry more people comfortably. Some even lack in power and overall performance. Some simply do not make drivers happy – let alone passengers.
Enter the award-winning Volkswagen Tiguan — an SUV for happy families.
Bud Brown Volkswagen has the 2019 Tiguan in stock!. We anticipate that a lot of you will want one. There is a lot to talk about. Let us tell you all about this exciting new smile-inducing vehicle.
“Earlier this year we welcomed the all-new Atlas to our lineup of Volkswagen models giving us the much-needed representation in the large SUV market we’ve been waiting for. We’re even more excited about the arrival of the all-new Tiguan. It’s sure to be a segment leader with its three row seating plus the safety and technology features customers are demanding.” – Phil Brown, President, Bud Brown Volkswagen
The new Tiguan is built on the MQB platform – the one that the Golf is made from. It is a proven platform that is flexible enough to create a compact SUV with three rows of seating. Therefore, the body is contemporary, efficient and built for easy access into the cabin and cargo hold. For this pleasing vehicle, Volkswagen presents a modern, straightforward look with plenty of advanced features for lighting, including standard LED daytime running lights. SEL models get full LED lighting with Adaptive Front Lighting, puddle lights underneath the power-folding side mirrors and LED taillights.
Inside the cabin is a very spacious place to drive, relax and carry your stuff. Up front is an advanced instrument panel featuring the available Volkswagen Digital Cockpit display. This display is customizable and flexible, providing a host of information for the driver.
Front occupants will find seating to be supportive for long journeys, which reduce fatigue. The second row is split 40/20/40 for flexible cargo usage, while it offers seven inches of fore-and-aft adjustment and recline for outboard seating areas. Getting the to 50/50 split third seat is easy, by flipping a lever and letting the second-row seat slide forward for easier access. Fold both the second and third-row seats down, and there are 73.5 cubic feet of cargo space to bring home an entire garden to plant – or, a month’s worth of groceries for your family.
All Tiguan models get the latest version of the MIB II infotainment system, driven by Car-Net. While the S model gets the 6.5-inch version of the touchscreen, all other models get the larger 8-inch version. These screens provide a clearer view of the menus, including the available navigation system.
Then there’s Car-Net. Buying the Security & Service package not only offers the peace of mind for reporting accidents, tracking of a stolen vehicle, and maintenance and service support, but it also features a six-month trial of Verizon Telematics as the uplink to Car-Net itself. There is a new feature called Family Guardian that enables controls for the younger driver in the family, such as to regulate speed limits and a boundary based on mileage away from home. SEL owners will also enjoy Car-Net Guide & Inform, which provides navigation-based information, sports scores, fuel prices, and weather data, to name a few. Plus, you get a three-month trial of SiriusXM Traffic that seamlessly provides real-time local traffic information.
The Tiguan is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. While it offers 184 horsepower, it also provides 221 pound-feet of torque – one the highest ratings in its class of any standard engine. This engine has been enhanced to provide more efficiency and improved fuel economy overall. An eight-speed automatic transmission is also standard on the Tiguan – an important piece towards improving fuel economy. A Stop/Start function is standard on the Tiguan.
Choose the available 4MOTION all-wheel drive system and you can cover a lot of traction. A driver can choose from four settings: On-Road, Snow, Off-Road and Custom Off-Road. Each setting is pre-determined for the type of traction and response needed for each condition. Furthermore, a driver can also choose a drive mode to suit one’s driving style. These drive modes include Normal, Sport, Eco and Custom. Each mode affects engine control, transmission shifts, steering, and the Adaptive Cruise Control, if equipped.
Volkswagen has always been a leader in occupant and vehicle safety by earning many accolades for its lineup. The Tiguan continues this commitment to providing the best in vehicle and occupant safety by offering a suite of driver assistance features. These features include: Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring (Front Assist), Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (Lane Assist), front and rear Park Distance Control (ParkPilot), High Beam Control (Light Assist) and Overhead View Camera (Area View).
In fact, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety awarded the Tiguan their Top Safety Pick.
For what you get in a new Tiguan, one would think it would cost “an arm and a leg.” Nope — how about a smile? For a front-wheel drive S model, the base price is $24,945. There are three other trim levels to choose from: SE, SEL and SEL Premium R Line. Plus, there is now a new R-Line Black package for the SE model!
