The new version will be powered by a 228-horsepower version of the EA888 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged four-cylinder engine. For better low-end take-off, there is 258 pound-feet of torque available. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, with a seven-speed DSG gearbox available. In addition to the driveline, a VAQ limited-slip differential is added, along with the powerful braking system from the Golf R. Overall, the Jetta GLI is more than just a mere sedan version of the Golf GTI – it’s a performance machine created on its own merits.

Standard features on the Jetta GLI include: front and rear LED lighting, 10-color ambient lighting, dual-zone Climatronic, Front Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Traffic Alert.

Available premium features include: Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated leather seats, DCC adaptive damping, and BeatsAudio sound system. In all, this is the most comprehensive Jetta GLI ever created.

There will be two trim levels for the Jetta GLI – the S and the Autobahn.
