The New Volkswagen Golf GTI
The Golf GTI is the original “hot hatch.” The formula was simple: Take a car that everyone loves and put more performance into it. The result has been ongoing since we saw our first ones in 1982, along with a rich history of original performance and excellence. It remains the favorite among Volkswagen enthusiasts around the world.
It starts with the Golf hatchback. We upped the engine power, chose perfectly-matched transmissions, upholstered the car with red trim and sporty seats, gave you aggressive wheels and tires and applied the GTI badge to complete the package. However, the Golf GTI truly stands alone. It offers seating for five and at least 13.7 cubic feet of cargo space. You can fold down the rear seats for more space to carry anything you have in mind. Plus, our new infotainment systems feature improved touch screens for audio and navigation options. Combine that with our optional Fender audio system and you will be rocking out on the road in style.
As a part of the Golf Family, the Golf GTI also won Motor Trend’s Car of The Year and was named one of Car and Driver’s 10Best of 2017 and the 2015 North American Car of The Year!
“The GTI doesn’t just feel better than its predecessor; it feels better than almost any other car on the road today.” – Jared Gall, Car and Driver
The Golf GTI comes with one potent engine: The newly uprated 228 horsepower 2.0-Liter TSI turbocharged engine. It is quick off the draw, just like every Golf GTI before it. Choose the Performance Package, and power goes up to 220HP. There is a choice between a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed DSG gearbox – both matches the performance of the TSI engine perfectly. Not only that, the GTI will return up to 34 MPG on the highway.
Another great feature on the Golf GTI is Car-Net. This is the connected car services suite from Volkswagen that assists when the Golf GTI is involved in an accident, is stolen or for any other emergencies and services as needed anytime, every day. All Golf GTI models get the MIB II family of information systems, driven by Car-Net.
While the Golf GTI is fun to drive, it is also safe to own. An advanced safety cage locks and a crash-optimized front end protects its occupants from any collision the Golf GTI might encounter. There are seven active stability-enhancing systems to keep the Golf GTI on the road. Every Golf GTI gets anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-pressure distribution, adaptive airbags all around and an Intelligent Crash Response System. Additional features  include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist), Lane Departure Warning (Lane Assist), Blind Spot Monitor w/ Rear Traffic Alert, Park Distance Control (Park Pilot), and Parking Steering Assistant (Park Assist).
The Golf GTI is available in only in a four-door hatchback. There is a choice of trims – S, SE and Autobahn. Pricing for the Golf GTI starts at $28,695.
To get the best sporty car on the planet, why not go with the original? One drive in a Golf GTI will convince everyone that it is the right “hot hatch” to drive in.
