Ïnformation Regarding the TDI Settlement

Over the past few months, Volkswagen of America has been working with the Environmental Protection Agency to provide a settlement to their customers who purchased a vehicle with the TDI diesel engine. The staff at Bud Brown Volkswagen understands the concerns of our customers and wants to get answers to them regarding the settlement agreement and how it will impact the relationship between VWOA, this dealership and our customers.

The following is the steps to be taken towards fulfilling the TDI Settlement.


The following Volkswagen models are eligible models to participate in the settlement:
2015 VW Golf TDI, Golf SportWagen TDI
2015 VW Jetta TDI, Passat TDI, Beetle TDI
2012-2014 VW Passat TDI
2009-2014 VW Jetta TDI, Jetta SportWagen TDI
2010-2013 VW Golf TDI
2012-2014 VW Beetle TDI


Volkswagen owners must begin the process by logging onto the settlement website www.vwcourtsettlement.com to begin the claim process. There, owners will need to choose to have VW buy back the vehicle or to have VW fix the car for free. This page began accepting claims on July 26, 2016 and owners have until September 1, 2018 to log on and begin the process. On that page, owners can check their vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to see if their vehicle is covered.

To those choosing to have Volkswagen buy back their car, the basis of that amount will be the value of the car prior to the event, plus between $5,000 and $10,000 – depending on the model year.

Owners choosing to keep their Volkswagen and have it brought up to compliance, can still get a payout of $5,000 to $10,000, while having their modification fixes done at no cost to the owner. Volkswagen of America and Bud Brown Volkswagen will keep owners posted when thier VW is ready to be modified. At that time, owners can schedule their appointment to come in and have it fixed.
