Eos Comparison
The Volkswagen Eos is a convertible that offers the same solidity as a coupe. It is also the only retractable hardtop with a moonroof! All of this to keep the sun, moon and stars alive – roof open or closed! Yet, it is still a German-engineered Volkswagen with all of the great safety and performance that makes the Eos a worthy buy.
The Eos may be the only retractable roof convertible with a moonroof, but it is not the only convertible in town. To be fair, the Eos was put against two other four-seat retractable roof coupe/convertible to see where it stands – the Lexus IS 250 C and the Infiniti Q60 Convertible.
Volkswagen Eos | Lexus IS 250 C | Infiniti Q60 Convertible | |
---|---|---|---|
Engine (Standard) | 2.0Liter turbocharged I-4 – 200HP | 2.5Liter V6 – 204HP | 3.7Liter V6 – 325HP |
Combined Fuel Economy | 26 MPG | 24 MPG | 22 MPG |
Curb Weight | 3,508 lbs. | 3,806 lbs. | 4,083 lbs. |
Cargo Space (Roof Up/Down) | 10.5 cu Ft./6.6 cu. Ft. | 10.8 cu ft./NA | 11.8 cu ft./2.5 cu. Ft. |
Base Price | $36,145 | $43,360 | $48,550 |
From these numbers, this comparison might seem unfair. But, it illustrates a few points about the Eos. It is called the lowest priced retractable roof four-seat convertible for a reason. On top of better fuel economy, a larger cargo hold with the roof down and a lighter car overall, it is also the most real fun one could have with both the top up or down.
The German-engineered Eos is on its final days. That innovative coupe/convertible will certainly be missed. But, it is worth a look when you come by our store. After all, there is nothing like driving – and owning – a great top down experience.
