Car and Driver Names Three 2026 Volkswagen Models To Editors’ Choice List

Every year, Car and Driver tests hundreds of cars and puts together a list that their editors rated either a 9 or 10 out of a possible 10 points. The Tiguan received a 9 out of 10, while the GTI and Golf R each received a perfect 10.

The 2026 VW Tiguan has a base price of $32,280 and is offered in five trim levels, including S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and the SEL R-Line Turbo. Front-wheel drive is standard on all but the SEL, with the famed 4Motion® all-wheel drive available. Under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 201 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque with FWD and 221 with AWD. The SEL R-Line Turbo puts out 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque from the same engine.
