For this limited run sedan, Volkswagen enhanced the Passat with 20 enhancements all around, the most noticeable is the lowered suspension and 19-inch Tornado wheels on higher performance tires and red accents – including the brake calipers. LED lighting was added, with design cues from the R-Design model, along with an exclusive honeycomb grille and red accents.
The interior was given the sporty treatment, as well. Black leatherette seating surfaces with gray inserts and contrast stitching. Climatronic dual-zone climate control, eight-way power seats and the Composition Media infotainment center are among the standard features you get in the Passat GT.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, at no cost. Other German manufacturers want to charge you a monthly subscription fee, Volkswagen does not.
Underneath the hood is the Passat’s 3.6-liter V6. With 280 horsepower on tap, it will challenge its high-powered and sporty rivals for dominance. If you are still thinking about the link between the Passat GT and the GTI – remember, the latter had a VR6 underneath its hood not too long ago.
