10 Cool Things About The ID.Buzz

February 20th, 2025 by

The 2025 ID.Buzz has set the world on fire. Hot off the heels of Time Magazine announcing the EV van as one of their Best Inventions for 2024, as well as being a finalist in the 2025 North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards, the ID.Buzz is showing that electric vehicles are just getting started. More so, the VW ID.Buzz is changing the world. Here are ten cool things about the new ID.Buzz.

1)  It’s Electric… Boogie Woogie, Woogie

In the modern era, nothing is better than a usable EV. The ID.Buzz takes that principle up a notch by making sure that, as a van, owners are able to fully utilize the space of their Buzz. The ID.Buzz features a 91-kWh battery that puts out 282 horsepower when equipped with rear-wheel drive or 335 horsepower with 4Motion all-wheel drive. When equipped with RWD, the ID.Buzz will have 234 miles of range and 231 miles with 4Motion AWD.

2)  This Ride’s Got Juice

The original Volkswagen Bus the Buzz is based on was slower than molasses going uphill. It was so slow, to the point that the phrase “couldn’t get out of its own way” was specifically created to describe the old Bus. Gone are the days of retro ‘60s cars that couldn’t keep up with traffic, as Car and Driver’s testing shows that the ID.Buzz will haul from 0-60 in just 5.5 seconds on its way to a 14.2-second quarter-mile time. So, it keeps up with a GTI…

3) Retro Done Right

For so long, car manufacturers have tried to capture the spirit of some of their oldest and most revered cars. However, most of them didn’t really work. In fact, in a stroke of genius, Volkswagen was one of the few that hit gold when they brought back the Beetle. So it makes sense that they would hit the jackpot by bringing back another special vehicle from their past, with the VW Bus turned into the ID.Buzz. U.S. News and World Report said in their review, I think it does a spectacular job of representing the past, without making compromises that reduce its current utility. It starts up front, with a retro-inspired look and the massive VW crest in just the right place. It continues to the rearmost roof pillars, with their faux vents mimicking the air intakes of the original … It rides on retro-influenced disc alloy wheels. Though they’re much larger than the original’s wheel covers, they are faithful enough to the first VW vans that it won’t bother you.”

4) A Minivan Made Cool

Let’s face it: minivans are the most versatile of family vehicles. While they may not historically be the most stylish, there is no doubting the amount of cargo they can hold. The ID.Buzz, being nothing like a traditional, boring minivan, is cool in every way possible. With 18.6 cu-ft of cargo space behind the third row, 75.5 cu-ft with the last row folded, and finally, 145.5 cubic feet when all rows are folded flat, the VW EV van outdoes even most SUVs in interior space while also being more attractive to look at and ride in.

5) The Right Amount of Seats

With such a vast amount of interior space, the ID.Buzz is also perfect for carrying the whole family and maybe some of their friends, too. Buyers can opt for either six or seven seats. The base model features a rear bench seat, while the Pro S trim allows you to have captain’s chairs to seat a total of six passengers.

6) Many Ways to Stay Charged

No matter which seat you’re in, the ID.Buzz has a USB-C charger just for your device. Each and every row has its own set of chargers, with the driver and front passenger getting a wireless charging pad and a 115-volt AC outlet to plug in laptops or other more power-hungry devices.

7) A Properly Cool Interior

We’ve said it already: minivans typically aren’t cool. However, your kids will love this minivan because it’s stylish, comfortable, and wild. There are no boring colors or touchpoints inside the ID.Buzz. The V-Tex synthetic leather upholstery provides comfortable surfaces that are also environmentally friendly and come in colors like Copper, Dune, and Moonlight, each with its own distinct vibe.

8) Properly Technological

The original Volkswagen Bus of yesteryear was not meant to be a safe vehicle. Then again, no cars were particularly safe in the 1960s. The ID.Buzz, even though a faithful recreation, has updated things for the times. Every trim level features IQ.Drive, the technological driver assistance system that includes Travel Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Active Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Front Assist, Emergency Assist, and Lane Assist.

9) It Looks So Rad at Night

There won’t be a person on earth who won’t know that what’s behind them or coming towards them is an ID.Buzz. With its signature front lighting, which features a very bright set of LEDs that illuminate not just the headlights but also the headlight surrounds, and a light bar on the front that is met in the middle by a large VW logo, VW wanted astronauts on the space station to see the ID.Buzz down on earth.

10) No One Will Not Notice This ID.Buzz

Why the ID.Buzz is genuinely so cool in 2025 is that it flies in the face of conservative car buying. The retro Buzz is based on one of the most iconic vehicles ever created, the Volkswagen Bus of the 1960s. But how do you compete with something that forever changed society and the automobile? You make it daring and wild. You make it an EV that enhances its Flower Power image of the loving and groovy ‘60s with wild colors like Mahi Green, Cabana Blue, and Pomelo Yellow, among others. Then, you give it a design that no one can miss, one that every child will point at relentlessly. Ultimately, you make it completely usable as a van with 234 miles of all-electric range.
