Last Chance To Buy A Manual GTI

In 2003, Volkswagen released its Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG), which has slowly but surely been phasing out customers’ want for the manual transmission. And now, VW has officially announced that the 2024 GTI and Golf R will be the last chance for buyers to choose the old-school manual transmission.

The Mk8 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI has the EA888 2.0-liter Turbocharged Inline-4, producing 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The Golf R is powered by a modified version of the 2.0-liter engine with 315 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.  

Goodbye Manual

As a final send off, Volkswagen has created the 2024 GTI 380, a special edition model that will only be offered in manual. GTI 380 models can be had in Deep Black Pearl, Atlantic Blue Metallic, Kings Red Metallic, Reflex Silver Metallic, Moonstone Gray, and Opal White Pearl, plus a unique color called Graphite Gray Metallic, as well as gloss black 19-inch Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition wheels with summer performance tires. A blacked-out roof and side mirrors are standard design cues to set the 380 apart from other GTIs. The GTI 380 will also get the DCC adaptive dampers that are typically only standard on the top-of-the-line Autobahn trim level.

Price

Volkswagen naming the special edition GTI the “380” is a nod to the internal model code and is available now at dealers with a starting MSRP of $32,485 for the GTI 380 S, $37,285 for the GTI 380 SE, and $40,625 for the GTI 380 Autobahn.
