Summer is winding down. After months of coping with the COVID-19 pandemic, you are itching to get out.

A lot of what we offer in Kansas City remains closed. The Royals are playing, but no one can attend their games at Kauffman Stadium. Many of our area’s museums remain closed.

Bud Brown Volkswagen knows the feeling. You can still do that road trip before or on Labor Day Weekend. Of course, many things have changed to keep you safe and healthy.

For example, the state of Kansas still mandates that you wear a mask indoors whether you are shopping or in a public area. Kansas City and other Missouri communities also have the same mandate. Masks do help in lowering the possible transmission of the virus.

If you are traveling out of Kansas or Missouri, check the rules in the state you are visiting for anything you need to do, including wearing a mask.

You also heard that driving is a form of social distancing. Solo drivers will welcome that. If you’re traveling with your families, make sure all touch surfaces are clean and sanitized. Sanitizing wipes work well, among other types of sanitizers. Don’t forget to bring hand sanitizer along for everyone!

There are also some great ideas right here in Metro KC! Drive-In movies, such as the Twin Drive-In in Independence, Missouri and the Boulevard Drive-In in Wyandotte County, Kansas, have been set up for social distancing keeping vehicles at least six feet apart. The Kansas City Zoo is open, too! You just have to get a ticket in advance to get in.
