Motor Week Driver's Choice 2024

Bud Brown Volkswagen proudly announces that the ID.4 compact SUV has received the 2024 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice award for Best EV. This is the second time the 2024 ID.4 has earned the Driver’s Choice award, having received the accolade in 2022.

MotorWeek is television’s longest-running and most-respected automotive television series. Dating all the way back to 1981, it was the first weekly series to offer consumer-oriented car and truck reviews, do-it-yourself car care tips, and the latest auto industry news. A winner of numerous automotive journalism awards, MotorWeek is a reliable and trusted source of automotive news on television and the web. They select their awards after testing more than 150 vehicles throughout the year.

“When it arrived for 2021, the Volkswagen ID.4 SUV was just the start of all things EV for VW. But, even with a host of full-electrics coming, they still found time this year to make their ground-breaking ID.4 even better,” says John Davis, Creator and Host of MotorWeek. “The 2023 ID.4 has more standard tech and better materials in a revised interior. And, to add icing on the cake, VW also lowered the price of entry. When you hear folks bemoaning the lack of affordable, state-of-the-art electric vehicles, do them a favor and point to the Volkswagen ID.4, a MotorWeek Best EV of the Year.”

With a starting MSRP of $38,995, the ID.4 is priced in the heart of the popular compact crossover category. The base ID.4 is rear-wheel drive with a 62 kWh battery and an EPA-estimated range of 209 miles. Other ID.4 models offer an 82 kWh battery with a range of up to 275 miles and have a second motor between the front wheels for all-wheel-drive capability.

Adding to the affordability is that most ID.4 models also fully qualify for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit due to their high US-sourced content. ID.4 models are built in Chattanooga, TN, and models with SK-sourced batteries, which are built in Georgia, qualify for the full tax credit to qualified buyers.

“This is a great win for ID.4 and a strong recognition of our vision for an electric future,” said Petar Danilovic, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Strategy, Volkswagen of America, Inc. “Last year, the ID.4 was the fifth-best-selling EV in the United States. We see this momentum for the ID.4 as a solid base as Volkswagen gets ready to introduce two new EVs in the U.S. later this year.” Those two models will be the ID.7 luxury sedan and the long-anticipated ID.Buzz minivan, both expected to arrive later this year.
