2023 VW Taos & Tiguan Best Value

Identifying the most affordable new-car models in four categories—small SUVs, EVs and PHEVs, small pickup trucks, and small cars—that offer the best value for the price. Over 70 in-market vehicles were evaluated by model, trim, features, and first-year fuel costs. All vehicles evaluated were compared against the median price for each category.

As part of the report’s value focus, Cars.com required a list of features suggested to be present in any new high-value vehicle of today.  These features include:

• Blind spot monitor
• Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection
• Lane departure warning

Added to the model’s price and value consideration was confirmation these features were considered required packages or options. Cars.com’s methodology is value-focused, looking at the as-equipped median price, MPG & fuel costs, and the warranty.
